The Social Change Film Festival & Institute (SCFFI) is a global community with a local presence, promoting transformative filmmaking & fostering social change. SCFFI features four days of films, panels, workshops, selected shorts and special events to inspire and build a global community focused on expanding the reach of conscious social change film and media.
By creating spaces for dialogue, education, and connection:

Today’s youth are taking the future into their own hands in over 100 countries through the Zerofootprint Youth Calculator initiative that engages them in a worldwide network to measure, compare and change their behavior. As both a carbon calculator and social engagement platform, the Zerofootprint Youth Calculator connects young people to one another around the world to mitigate their collective carbon footprint. Already during Phase 1, over 230,000 active users have committed to a reduction of 150,000 tons of CO2 released into Earth’s atmosphere and our Oceans.
Earth Day 2013 – Launch of Phase 2. On Earth Day, the Zerofootprint Youth Calculator will launch a new platform in English, French, Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic. Through a partnership with iEARN (International Education and Resource Network), Phase 2 hopes to scale up to 1,000,000 active users and achieve a reduction of 600,000 tons of CO2 by Earth Day 2014.
iEARN’s database of over 60,000 schools in more than 130 countries enables Zerofootprint’s Youth Calculator to reach over 2,000,000 students. A partnership with WGBH Boston’s “Meet the Greens” initiative expands this reach even further.
Partners and volunteer translators wanted. In order to be accessible to children around the globe by Earth Day 2014, Zerofootprint seeks volunteers to help translate the platform into fifty languages. At grocery store parking lots, heads turn, and perfect strangers grin curiously. I park and eagerly invite them to take a peek inside. As these young people mobilize in hundreds of fossil fuel divestment campaigns we are excited to release a new tool designed to help them make their case powerfully, creatively, and rigorously.
This week I was given the gift of a pass to Wisdom 2.0 Summit. A conference in San Francisco which asks a very timely question:
How can we live with greater presence,meaning, and mindfulness in the technology age?
The conference brings together wisdom teachers, technology leaders, politicians, media superstars, social change artists and others. All sharing the stage- creating highly engaging discussions. Speakers include CTOs, technologists, CEOs & Founders from Cisco, Twitter, LinkedIN, Google, Facebook, Huffington Post and others. All are here to share their vision for the WHAT as well as the HOW of the present and future. Bill Ford, CEO of Ford Motor Company, was a truly inspired speaker. I grew up in Detroit and around Ford so the transformation and evolution of this company and its leadership is very exciting. As a an entrepreneur, these perspectives from business leaders and wisdom teachers deeply inspire and there should be more forums like these!
Today is the last day of the conference. We will learn from veterans about their journey back from experiences we cannot imagine through wisdom and healing practices. Wisdom and Social Change in the Digital Age promises to be an amazing session with Marianne Williamson and Congressman Tim Ryan hosted by the gifted Rachel Bagby.
